Summary

Thoroughly enjoyed this second volume， although the pacing was a bit different from what I'd been expecting。 There's very little about Yiyoung's work， and less of his teammates than I was hoping for - they shifted pretty far into the background here， with the relationship between Yiyoung and Director Kang taking the forefront。Not that that's a bad thing; obviously they're the center of this story， and the dynamic I'm the most invested in seeing progress。 But a lot of what I loved in Volume 1 was Thoroughly enjoyed this second volume， although the pacing was a bit different from what I'd been expecting。 There's very little about Yiyoung's work， and less of his teammates than I was hoping for - they shifted pretty far into the background here， with the relationship between Yiyoung and Director Kang taking the forefront。Not that that's a bad thing; obviously they're the center of this story， and the dynamic I'm the most invested in seeing progress。 But a lot of what I loved in Volume 1 was seeing Yiyoung's vibrant， caring personality with his friends and colleagues - something that caught Kang's attention， too， and really began to spark his admiration。 And where are we at with this admiration？ Hard to tell at the end of this volume。 I'm honestly as confused as Yiyoung was - but I also really liked his internal struggle with identifying and correctly interpreting Kang's feelings。 Yiyoung just feels so。。。authentic？ I don't usually read BL and think， "that guy reminds me of one of my RL friends，" but it was so easy to picture myself hanging out in a bar after work， listening to Yiyoung's latest heartbreak woes。 Not that he'd talk about it， though。 One of the best sections of this volume was the bit with his friend & company founder， Mina， thinking back on their childhood together， and all the times over the years that she's seen Yiyoung crush on a guy， get his heart shattered by it being unrequited， and put on a brave face and carry on with his work。 Yiyoung is fascinating because he's an extremely emotional， naive， heart-on-his-sleeve kind of guy， but he's also extremely practical， hardworking， and resilient。 Mina doesn't worry too much about him both because she's not an incredibly empathetic person， but also because she's seen him constantly bounce back from bad situations， never the worse for wear。 Will it be the same if Kang breaks his heart？ Maybe not。 But I appreciated Mina's determination to be there for him， and the nod to the strength of their friendship， going back to their kindergarten days， when Yiyoung rejected his first crush for being mean to his weird antisocial little friend。 Yiyoung is so brave and so loyal， and I'd really like for Kang to witness more of that kind of thing in action。Honestly though， it seems like he's already got a ton of reasons to fall for Yiyoung - Kang so clearly finds him fascinating and funny and constantly surprising。 And while their second night together happened way faster than I was expecting （I thought there'd be a lot of buildup to that）， I suppose it shouldn't have come as a surprise， considering how closely Kang had been watching and reacting to every move he made。 Even his secretary noticed！ （Sidenote: what is her deal？ Does she have a girlfriend？ That bit at the end was intriguing。 I ended up really liking her in this volume; it seems like she might start playing a bigger part in the story， and I definitely wouldn't mind that。）The logic behind Yiyoung and Kang sleeping together again was a little bit on the absurd side: hey， it was unprofessional and awkward that we slept together once， so let's do it again to fix it。 And then we'll of course never speak of it again because this is a one night stand that will not have any impact on our daily working relationship。。。。。。an agreement which Yiyoung lasts literally no time at all in breaking， because he has no emotional boundaries and has already started daydreaming about dating Kang for real。 What are Kang's feelings on the matter？ Again， super hard to tell - I was reading his mixed signals right alongside Yiyoung。 Kang was crossing a lot of professional lines by going on these "not-dates" with Yiyoung， and he's certainly a smart enough guy to know exactly what he was doing。 He likes and respects Yiyoung too much to have been toying with him， so it's got to be some internal conflict he hasn't been able to sort out yet。 I'm hoping that will be more of Volume 3 - Kang remains pretty mysterious at this point， and his baggage from previous relationships needs a lot of unpacking。 He's definitely a way more tender lover than their first encounter had indicated。。。I appreciated how much time they spent communicating throughout their entire night together， starting with Kang making extra sure that Yiyoung was sober enough to consent， and actively， verbally on board with every step of what they did that evening。 It was such a mature and refreshing encounter， and in a way， Yiyoung was kind of right。。。it did a lot more to repair the damage of that first night than any simple apology could've。 I wish we could've seen more of Kang's internal dialogue throughout， though， or what happened when he woke up the morning after。 He's very obviously not as unfeeling and unbothered as Yiyoung thinks， but I guess I'm going to have to wait months and months for the next volume to come out so I can hopefully find out what's really going on in that extremely handsome head of his。Worth the wait， though， and I'm not really tempted to read ahead online。 It's so great to be able to hold these books and read them in such a well-presented， color-rich format。 I'm super glad this license got picked up and hope Tokyopop will do the same with some other manhwa。。 。。。more

Yiyoung is so relatable when it comes to his constant self doubt， and Darhyung’s realization that he wants to have something meaningful with this younger man makes me so happy。 I’m so sad that Yiyoung left thing at the end like that， but he’s so scared of being hurt again。 Hopefully things work out at least a bit in the next volume。
